Futari Wa Pretty Cure is a Japanese anime television series that follows the story of two girls, Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro, who transform into superheroes known as Pretty Cure to defend the world against evil forces. Season 1 episode 1, titled "We can transform!? No way!", introduces the two main characters and sets the basic premise of the show.

The episode opens with a scene of Nagisa Misumi, a middle school student and a star player of the lacrosse team, struggling with her math homework while her little brother helps her. Nagisa is a bit of a tomboy and not particularly interested in girlish things such as fashion or makeup. However, she has a soft spot for cute things and has a habit of collecting them. This is evident from the various cute items scattered around her room.

Meanwhile, in another part of the town, Honoka Yukishiro, a genius student and a member of the science club, is working alone in the school's science lab. Honoka is known for her intelligence and is admired by her peers for her intelligence and studiousness. She is analytical and logical, with a keen interest in science and technology.

As fate would have it, Nagisa and Honoka's paths cross when they are both called to the school rooftop by a strange light emanating from the sky. They stumble upon a talking creature named Mepple, who claims to be from the Garden of Light and is being pursued by the wicked forces of the Dark Zone. Mepple instantly recognizes Nagisa as the chosen one to become a Pretty Cure, a legendary warrior that can fight the Dark Zone and protect the Garden of Light.

Initially skeptical, Nagisa is startled when she learns that Honoka can see Mepple, too. They are both given magical devices called Communicators, which allow them to communicate with Mepple and each other. The Communicators also have the power to transform them into Pretty Cure, superheroines with special abilities and powers.

Nagisa and Honoka are hesitant to accept their new powers and responsibilites, but they reluctantly agree to help Mepple and protect the Garden of Light. They are warned that the Dark Zone will do everything in their power to prevent them from succeeding, and that they must be prepared to fight and defend their world.

The rest of the episode deals with Nagisa and Honoka trying to transform into Pretty Cure for the first time, experimenting with their new powers, and figuring out their roles as superheroes. They are guided by Mepple, who acts as their mentor and coach.

At first, their transformation is a bit clumsy, and they are unable to control their powers. But as they practice and gain confidence, they become more proficient and are able to use their powers with greater skill. They quickly discover that being a Pretty Cure is not just about physical strength, but also about teamwork, courage, and determination.

The episode ends with a cliffhanger as the Dark Zone sends its first minion to attack Nagisa and Honoka. The two heroines must work together to defeat the minion and protect their world from harm.

Overall, "We can transform!? No way!" is a fun and engaging introduction to the world of Futari Wa Pretty Cure. It sets up the basic plot and introduces the main characters in a way that is easy to follow and understand. The animation and music are colorful and energetic, and the voice actors do a good job of bringing their characters to life. Fans of magical girl anime and superheroine stories will definitely enjoy this episode and the series as a whole.
