In Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood season 1 episode 9, titled "Created Feelings," we see the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, continuing their journey towards finding the Philosopher's Stone. Their search brings them to the town of Aquroya, where they stumble upon a woman named Julia Crichton. Julia is a jewelry maker, who also happens to be an alchemist. She invites the brothers to her studio and shows them her latest piece - a necklace that can supposedly amplify the wearer's emotions.
Julia reveals that she created the necklace in hopes of bringing her deceased lover back to life by using the amplified emotions to draw his soul back to the living world. Edward is skeptical of her claims, but Alphonse is moved by the idea and begins to question whether it's possible to bring their own mother back using the Philosopher's Stone.
Meanwhile, a group of thieves led by a man named Belsio attempts to steal the necklace from Julia's studio. However, Edward and Alphonse intervene and stop them. In the ensuing chaos, the necklace is broken, revealing that it was actually a fake and that Julia had been lying about its powers all along.
Feeling betrayed, Alphonse becomes angry and upset with Julia, accusing her of playing with people's emotions. However, Edward sympathizes with Julia, arguing that she was just desperate to bring her lover back and that she had been blinded by her grief.
The episode ends with the brothers saying goodbye to Julia and continuing on their journey, with both of them still wrestling with the idea of whether it's possible to bring their mother back to life using alchemy.
Overall, this episode delves into the themes of grief, loss, and the human desire to bring back loved ones who have passed away. It also highlights the dangers of playing with emotions and the consequences of placing too much faith in alchemy.
