Ep 1. Our Very First Show, Again

In the first episode of Fuller House season 1, titled "Our Very First Show, Again," we are reintroduced to the Tanner family we fell in love with in the original Full House. The show's premise revolves around the eldest Tanner daughter, DJ, now a widow who must navigate raising her three sons with the help of her sister Stephanie and childhood best friend Kimmy.

The episode begins with a throwback to the original Full House opening sequence, with the familiar theme song playing as we see iconic San Francisco landmarks. We are then brought to the interior of the Tanner house, which has been redecorated since we last saw it in the 90s.

We first see DJ with her three boys, Jackson, Max, and Tommy, all of whom are getting ready for a big upcoming event. It is revealed that DJ is going to be honored at her alma mater with an award for being a successful veterinarian. DJ is hesitant to attend the event without her late husband, but her family convinces her to go and celebrate her accomplishment.

As DJ prepares for the event, Stephanie and Kimmy arrive at the Tanner house in their signature wacky fashion. Stephanie, now a globe-trotting DJ, regales the family with tales of her travels while Kimmy brings her daughter Ramona along with her. Ramona is a new addition to the Full House universe, and we quickly see that she takes after her mother in terms of personality.

As the family gets ready for the big event, we are reintroduced to Uncle Jesse, Aunt Becky, and Danny Tanner. Uncle Jesse, now a music producer, is seen dropping off his daughter Alex, who will appear in future episodes, while Danny Tanner is busy helping DJ practice her acceptance speech. Aunt Becky and Danny are still married, and Becky has opened up her own successful business.

The episode's focus is on DJ's journey as she navigates completing her acceptance speech while dealing with the emotional turmoil of missing her husband. Throughout the episode, we see the lessons that DJ learned as a child in Full House come full circle. DJ's brother-in-law Steve, who was a love interest in the original series, enters the picture and provides a potential new love interest for DJ.

The episode is filled with familiar Full House moments, including heartfelt talks between Danny Tanner and his daughters and classic one-liners from Uncle Jesse. However, the show manages to showcase a new dynamic with the addition of Stephanie and Kimmy as the primary support system for DJ.

"Our Very First Show, Again" serves as an excellent comeback for the classic 90s show. The episode has everything fans could ask for: nostalgia, humor, heart, and a fresh new perspective. The show's creators managed to create a modern take on a beloved show, while still remaining true to the original's essence. Throughout the episode, we see new relationships form while old ones are strengthened, setting the stage for a delightful new chapter in the Full House universe.
