Full Moon wo Sagashite is a Japanese anime television series that aired from April 2002 to March 2003, comprising of 52 episodes. The show is based on a manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Arina Tanemura. The show follows Mitsuki Kouyama, a 12-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a singer. However, she suffers from a throat tumor that limits her ability to sing. Despite this, she continues to pursue her dream, believing that her late parents, who were also singers, are watching over her.

One day, Mitsuki meets two shinigami, or "death spirits," named Takuto Kira and Meroko Yui. They inform Mitsuki that she only has one year left to live due to her illness. In an attempt to fulfill her dream of becoming a singer before she passes, the shinigami offer to help Mitsuki transform into a healthy 16-year-old girl, allowing her to audition for a talent agency.

As Mitsuki begins her journey to become a singer, she must keep her true identity a secret from everyone, including her childhood friend and love interest, Eichi Sakurai. She also faces struggles, both in her personal life and her career, as she tries to balance her newfound success with her impending fate.

Throughout the series, Mitsuki forms friendships with other aspiring musicians and encounters various obstacles, including rival singers, dishonest producers, and even additional supernatural beings. The show also explores themes of love, loss, and what it means to pursue one's dreams in the face of adversity.

The main character, Mitsuki, is voiced by myco, a Japanese pop singer known for her energetic and emotive performances. Takuto Kira, one of the shinigami, is voiced by Megumi Ogata, who is best known for her roles in popular anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Sailor Moon. Meroko Yui, the other shinigami, is voiced by Chieko Honda, who also had a prolific voice acting career before her untimely passing in 2013. Yakkun Sakurazuka voices Eichi Sakurai, Mitsuki's love interest.

Full Moon wo Sagashite is known for its catchy music, heartfelt storytelling, and emotional performances. The show's soundtrack features several original songs performed by myco, including the opening and ending theme songs. The series also features several cover versions of popular songs, such as "Eternal Snow" and "Myself."

Overall, Full Moon wo Sagashite is a poignant and heartwarming anime series that explores love, loss, and the pursuit of one's dreams. Its relatable characters and memorable music make it a beloved classic among anime fans.
