The Full House season 6 episode 3 titled "Road to Tokyo" marks the beginning of a two-part series where D.J. Tanner, the eldest daughter of the Tanner family, gets an opportunity to visit Tokyo. The episode starts with D.J. being selected to perform a gymnastics display in Japan alongside a renowned Russian gymnast, Svetlana. This was a momentous opportunity for D.J., who had been practicing gymnastics for years, and she was thrilled to have been chosen for it.
As she shares her news with her family, her younger sister Stephanie feels insecure and wishes she could also go to Tokyo. As the sisters continue their exchange, they both reveal that they suffer from a fear of flying despite both of them being very good gymnasts. D.J. pretends that she is not afraid of flying, but secretly she is terrified of it.
Meanwhile, Stephanie decides to overcome her fear of flying by taking flying lessons with her Uncle Jesse, who is a licensed private pilot. Uncle Jesse agrees to help Stephanie confront her fear by teaching her how to fly. He takes her to the airport, familiarizes her with the equipment used in flying, and takes her on a flight to show her that flying is not as scary as she thinks.
After a successful test of flying, Stephanie decides she wants to fly to Tokyo with D.J. Uncle Jesse encourages the girls to pursue their dreams and convinces Danny Tanner, their dad, to let them go. Danny agrees to let them travel alone, but only after they promise to call home every day, take pictures, and be careful.
On the morning of their departure, everyone in the Tanner household is up early, and the excitement is palpable. Everyone arrives at the airport to see the girls off. However, things take an unexpected turn when D.J. realizes that Svetlana is not just her gymnastics partner, but also her roommate for the two weeks they will be in Japan. The two girls are very different and Svetlana's behavior towards D.J. is not friendly.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger with a phone call that leaves the Tanner family worried about the girls' safety. The episode leaves the audience on edge, wondering what will happen next. The episode does a great job of laying the groundwork for the next episode, creating suspense, and building interest in the outcome of D.J. and Stephanie's trip.
Overall, "Road to Tokyo" is an exciting and engaging episode of Full House. It highlights the importance of facing your fears, pursuing your dreams, and being careful while doing so. Additionally, it showcases how close the Tanner family is and their willingness to support each other even when it means letting their loved ones go away. These values and themes are consistent with the overall premise of the show, making this episode a great addition to the series.
