It's a new season for the Tanner family, and the first episode of Full House season 5, "Double Trouble," wastes no time in introducing some major changes. The episode opens with a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge as Jesse, Becky, and their twin boys, Nicky and Alex, drive across it in their car. They've just returned from a summer trip and are eager to reunite with the rest of the family.
Meanwhile, back at the Tanner household, Danny, Joey, Stephanie, and D.J. are preparing for the girls' first day of school. As they eat breakfast, they discuss the changes they're all facing: D.J. is starting high school, Stephanie is moving up to middle school, and Joey's girlfriend, Roxy, is moving in with him.
But the biggest change of all is yet to come. Later that day, Jesse and Becky arrive home with a surprise: they've decided to move in with the Tanners temporarily while they renovate their own house. At first, everyone is excited to have them there, but as the day goes on, tensions begin to rise. Stephanie and Michelle start fighting over who gets to spend time with Nicky and Alex, while Danny and Jesse bicker over the best way to renovate the attic.
Meanwhile, D.J. struggles to fit in at her new high school. She's nervous about making friends and joining clubs, but her worries are put on hold when she meets a cute boy named Kevin in her biology class. Kevin is friendly and charming, but D.J. finds herself feeling insecure about her own appearance and interests. The two strike up a conversation about the Beatles, but D.J. is hesitant to admit that she doesn't know much about the band. Kevin tells her not to worry and invites her to audition for his band as a keyboardist.
Back at the Tanner household, the chaos continues. Joey tries to adjust to living with Roxy, but finds himself struggling to share his space with someone else. Roxy, on the other hand, is excited to be part of the family and suggests that they all cook dinner together. They agree, but the meal quickly turns into a disaster when everyone starts overcomplicating things and arguing. In the midst of the chaos, Stephanie accidentally spills sauce all over the new couch, and everyone panics about how to clean it up before Jesse finds out.
As night falls, the family tries to settle down and relax. But things only get worse when Nicky and Alex start crying and refuse to sleep. Danny and Jesse argue over how to calm them down, and the rest of the family struggles to get any rest. Finally, Becky suggests that they split up and each take a twin to sleep with, an idea that everyone agrees to. They pair off and head to their respective bedrooms, hoping to finally get some rest.
The episode ends with D.J. lying in bed, listening to the Beatles and feeling nervous about her audition. As she hums along to the music, the camera cuts to each member of the family, all of whom are lying in bed with a twin and slowly drifting off to sleep. It's a chaotic, but ultimately heartwarming scene that sets the stage for what promises to be an eventful season of Full House.
