The One With The Sharks is the fourth episode of the ninth season of Friends. The episode begins with Monica and Chandler visiting a couple who have just moved into the apartment which is now below them. While they are there, they notice that their new neighbors are heavy smokers, which creates a problem for Monica and Chandler since they are trying to have a baby.
Meanwhile, Ross has bought a new sofa for his apartment. However, when it is delivered, he realizes that it is much too large for his living room. He enlists the help of Rachel and Joey to move it, but they accidentally run into a table filled with water and sharks which he has just bought for his office. The three of them end up on the roof of the building, trying to figure out how to get the sharks down to Ross's apartment.
Later in the episode, Phoebe meets a man at the coffee shop who offers to pay her $700 for a picture of her feet. She is disgusted by this offer but soon realizes that she may be able to use her "odd" looks to make some extra money. She begins to take on odd jobs like receptionist and impersonator.
The main plot of the episode revolves around Monica and Chandler's attempts to get their new neighbors to quit smoking. After trying a number of different methods, they realize that the only way to get them to stop is to scare them. Chandler comes up with the idea of pretending to be the building's handyman and telling the neighbors that the building has a gas leak. The plan works and the neighbors quit smoking.
In the end, Ross, Rachel, and Joey are able to successfully get the sharks down to Ross's apartment, although not without a few mishaps along the way. Phoebe makes some extra money with her odd jobs, and Monica and Chandler can finally breathe easy knowing that their new neighbors have quit smoking. The episode ends with the friends sitting on Ross's new oversized sofa, which has become the centerpiece of his apartment.
