Monica is trying hard to impress the owners of a restaurant to get a catering job for them. She gets Chandler and Ross to help her with a presentation to impress the couple. However, during the presentation, a spot is spilled on Phoebe's dress, which she lent Monica for the meeting. Phoebe has a strong attachment to the dress since her mother had died, and she feels it is the only material thing left of her mother. In trying to get the stain out, Chandler accidentally ruins the dress, and now everyone has to figure out how to break the news to Phoebe.
On the other side, Joey becomes obsessed with Rachel's big sister, Jill, whom he meets for the first time. She's in town on a trip, and he doesn't miss a chance to get closer to her, even if he has to lie about a part in an upcoming movie just to get her attention. As Joey tries hard to win Jill's heart, Rachel begins to get worried, especially since she knows her sister's dating history. She tries to warn Joey about getting too involved with Jill, but he remains stubborn.
Meanwhile, Rachel feels that Ross is moving on and dating again, after he tells her that he is seeing someone. She tries to convince herself that she's cool with it, but when she finds out that Ross has started dating the girl who works at the Xerox store, Rachel goes to talk to the girl and ends up making a fool of herself, and Ross.
Ultimately, Monica and Phoebe reconcile, and the group decides to throw Phoebe's dress a mock funeral. Chandler admits to what had happened, and with everyone's support, Phoebe is able to move on from the loss of her mother's dress. Jenna and Joey's relationship hits a dead end after Joey's lies surface. Rachel confronts Ross, and they finally clear the air about their feelings and where they stand with each other.
