Ep 23. The One With The Ring

Rachel is all set to start her new job in Paris, but she's finding it really hard to leave New York and everyone she loves behind. Meanwhile, Chandler is eager to propose to Monica, and he seeks advice from Joey on how to do it. The guys head out to buy a ring, but they end up getting lost and wasting a lot of time in the process. When they finally do find a ring, they realize they don't have enough money to buy it, so they come up with a plan to get the ring at a discount.

Rachel is trying her best to keep her emotions in check as her last day at work approaches. She's anxious about leaving Ross behind, especially since they had just started dating again. Ross is feeling the same way, but he's trying to be supportive of Rachel's decision to move to Paris. Before she leaves, Ross gives her a goodbye present - a necklace with a small gold charm that says "I love you," reminding her of his feelings towards her.

As she packs her bags, Rachel realizes that she can't leave without saying goodbye to Ross one last time. She heads over to his apartment and they reminisce about old times. Ross admits that he doesn't want her to go and they share a tender moment. However, Rachel remains resolute and says that she has to go to Paris for herself. She tearfully says goodbye to Ross, and the two share a passionate kiss before she leaves.

Back at the apartment, Chandler is getting increasingly anxious about proposing to Monica. He wants everything to be perfect, but he's worried that something will go wrong. Ross tries to calm him down, but it only makes things worse. Meanwhile, Joey is trying to distract Monica by taking her out for a day of pampering, but he ends up making things worse by revealing to her that Chandler is planning to propose.

Chandler and Ross eventually make it back to the apartment with the ring, but things take a turn for the worse when Chandler accidentally drops it down the drain. They resort to desperate measures and end up dismantling the whole sink to retrieve the ring. As they're fixing the sink, Monica comes in and sees what's going on. Chandler decides that it's the perfect moment to propose, and he gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him. Monica tearfully says yes, and the two embrace as the others cheer.

As the episode comes to a close, Rachel arrives at the airport, ready to begin her new life in Paris. She's teary-eyed as she says goodbye to Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Monica, but they all reassure her that they'll visit her soon. She hugs Ross one last time before boarding the plane, and he watches as she disappears into the crowd. The episode ends with Ross standing alone at the airport, looking heartbroken as he realizes that Rachel is really gone.
