In Friends season 6 episode 2, titled "The One Where Ross Hugs Rachel," Ross and Rachel's complicated relationship takes center stage once again. The episode begins with Ross and Joey trying to impress a girl at the coffee shop, when Rachel walks in. Ross immediately becomes nervous and stumbles over his words, which is a reminder of their history together.
Later on, Ross tries to talk to Rachel about their situation, but she is hesitant to discuss it. Meanwhile, Monica and Chandler are searching for the perfect wedding dress, but Monica is struggling to find something that she loves. Back at Ross's apartment, Rachel finally opens up to him about her feelings and the two have a heart-to-heart conversation. Ross asks if he can hug her, which leads to a touching moment between the two of them.
Elsewhere, Phoebe is trying to help out a friend by signing up for an experimental drug trial but ends up experiencing some bizarre side effects.
