In season 5 episode 18 of Friends, titled "The One Where Rachel Smokes", Rachel finds herself caught in a bit of a predicament after she starts smoking in an attempt to fit in with her colleague, as well as relieve some of her stress. After realizing that she doesn't like the taste or the smell of smoke, Rachel decides to quit, but finds it much more difficult than she initially thought.
Meanwhile, Chandler and Joey are plotting revenge against their annoying upstairs neighbor, Mr. Heckles, who constantly complains about their noise level. When Mr. Heckles unexpectedly dies, Chandler and Joey find themselves inheriting all of his belongings - including a broom - and start to feel guilty about their initial plan.
Ross and Phoebe engage in a debate about evolution, with Ross adamantly arguing that evolution is a fact of life, while Phoebe takes a more open-minded approach and suggests the possibility of other theories. The two try to convince each other of their respective positions, but ultimately agree to disagree.
Monica and Monica's parents come to visit, but Monica becomes increasingly frustrated when her mother seems to be focused on everything she is doing wrong, rather than simply enjoying their time together. Monica tries to come up with ways to impress her mother, but ultimately realizes that she needs to stand up for herself and be confident in who she is.
Throughout the episode, the friends navigate their various challenges and disagreements, ultimately coming together for a heartwarming conclusion.
