The One With George Stephanopoulos is the fourth episode of the first season of Friends. In this episode, we see the gang gather at Monica's apartment to watch a news report being aired on television which features their favorite news anchor, George Stephanopoulos.

The episode starts with Ross confiding in Chandler about his recent divorce, and Chandler attempting to cheer him up with a joke. However, the attempt falls flat, and the duo is interrupted by Joey, who enters with an invitation to a party hosted by his ex-girlfriend, Angela. Joey assumes that Ross will attend with him, but Ross is more focused on watching the aforementioned news report with the others.

At Monica's apartment, the group gathers around the television to watch the news report, but the sound is broken, so they are forced to try and lip-read the broadcast. This leads to some hilarious misunderstandings, with Rachel thinking that the news anchor is speaking French and Joey mistaking "duck" for a different word entirely.

Phoebe arrives with a new song that she has written, but the group is too distracted by the news report to listen to it. She refuses to play it until they give her their full attention, which they finally do following some encouragement from Ross.

As the group continues to try and decipher the news report, they begin to speculate about what may have caused George Stephanopoulos to look so upset on air. They concoct ridiculous scenarios, such as him being attacked by a giant pigeon on the street, which provides some much-needed comic relief.

As the party at Angela's grows more and more depressing, Joey becomes increasingly desperate for something to do, leading him to telephone Chandler and Rachel at Monica's apartment. The group is not impressed that Joey has left the party, but he is insistent that they need to do something more exciting than sitting at home watching television.

Following some confusion about what to do next, the group decides to head to a nearby pizza place, where they spot George Stephanopoulos having dinner. They try to sneak a peek at his table, but he catches them and invites them over to say hello.

After chatting with the news anchor, the group tries to leave unobtrusively, but they are spotted by a group of girls who make them feel embarrassed for being in the same restaurant as George. In an effort to impress the girls, Joey pretends to have been in an accident and boasts about his injuries, which leads to a moment of hilarity as he ends up getting his head stuck in a turkey platter.

The episode ends with the friends back at Monica's apartment, hanging out and bonding over their shared experience at the pizza place. The group reflects on their antics and agrees that it was a memorable night that they won't forget anytime soon.

Overall, The One With George Stephanopoulos is a light-hearted and entertaining episode that showcases the strong bonds between the friends. It provides ample opportunities for laughs and some heartwarming moments as well.
