In the second episode of the fifth season of Friday Night Lights, titled "On the Outside Looking In," we see the ongoing struggles and triumphs of the residents of Dillon, Texas.
Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) is still struggling to adjust to his new job at East Dillon High and the limited resources he has available to him. However, he is determined to turn the East Dillon Lions into champions and instill in them the same dedication and perseverance that he did with the Dillon Panthers.
Meanwhile, Tami Taylor (Connie Britton) has taken on a new role as the guidance counselor at East Dillon, where she is faced with the challenges of reaching out to troubled students who have been failed by the system. She must also deal with the difficulties of balancing her job, her family, and her personal ambitions.
The series continues to follow the lives of the students of East Dillon and their struggles both on and off the football field. Vince (Michael B. Jordan), a star athlete who is struggling to overcome the pressures of gang life and the expectations of his community, finds himself in a difficult situation as he tries to balance his loyalty to his friends with his own dreams of success.
Meanwhile, Luke (Matt Lauria) is facing his own struggles as he attempts to come to terms with his family's financial struggles and his future beyond high school. With the help of Coach Taylor, Luke must find a way to overcome the obstacles that stand between him and his dreams.
As the season progresses, we see the residents of Dillon continue to come together in the face of adversity, proving that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for a brighter future. With the help of their friends and family, the students of East Dillon learn the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, and discover that with enough determination, anything is possible.
