Ep 1. Coming From America

Fresh Off the Boat is an American sitcom television series that follows the story of a Taiwanese-American family who moves from Washington D.C. to Orlando, Florida to follow the American Dream. The show is based on the memoir, Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir by Eddie Huang.

As he tries to get his bearings, he discovers that his steakhouse has been replaced by a Golden Saddle restaurant and he does not take the news well. Louis is a hard-working man who is dedicated to his family and his business, and he is dismayed to see his dream fall apart. He is determined to get Cattleman's Ranch back and will stop at nothing to see it succeed once again.

Eddie Huang, played by Hudson Yang, is the eldest son of the family and is struggling with his identity as a second-generation Asian-American. In an attempt to get closer to his culture, he decides to learn Chinese. However, he soon realizes that it's not as easy as he thought it would be. Eddie is a typical teenage boy who is trying to figure out who he is and where he belongs. He has a lot of love for his family and wants to do whatever he can to make them proud.

Jessica Huang, played by Constance Wu, is the matriarch of the family and is determined to make sure her family succeeds in America. As they settle back into life in Orlando, she encourages Eddie's attempts to learn Chinese and supports Louis in his endeavor to bring back Cattleman's Ranch.

In addition to the main plotlines of the episode, there are also some amusing subplots involving the rest of the family. Emery, the middle son, is dealing with a dilemma over which name to use in school, and Grandma Huang is trying to get rid of some troublesome birds. These subplots add to the overall humor of the episode and provide some lighthearted moments throughout.
