Back at Frasier's apartment, the ghost in the Bla-Z-Boy recliner is getting more and more agitated. Frasier decides to try and communicate with the ghost, and he discovers that the man who died in the chair was a former employee of the store where it was purchased. Frasier goes to the store and speaks with the owner, who reveals that the man was actually fired and had a grudge against the store. Frasier realizes that the ghost is seeking revenge on the store and decides to help him find closure.
In the end, Niles gives his speech and is successful, thanks in part to the hypnosis. Frasier is able to help the ghost in the Bla-Z-Boy find peace, and he is finally able to enjoy his new recliner without any supernatural interference. The episode ends with the Crane brothers reflecting on their own fears and the power of facing them head-on.
