Frasier season 5 episode 19, titled "Frasier Gotta Have It," follows Frasier as he becomes obsessed with obtaining a rare, limited edition book. The episode begins with Frasier and Niles browsing through an antique bookstore when Frasier spots the book of his dreams - a first edition of T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land." Unfortunately for Frasier, the book is out of his price range at $1,200.
Unable to let go of his desire to own the book, Frasier becomes consumed with finding a way to obtain it. He begins by selling his own possessions, including his beloved electric train set, to earn enough money to make an offer on the book. However, the store owner tells Frasier that the book has already been sold to a wealthy collector.
Determined not to give up, Frasier concocts a plan to meet the collector and try to convince him to sell the book to him instead. With Niles's help, Frasier arranges to attend a high-society party where the collector is rumored to be in attendance. When they finally come face to face with the collector, Frasier tries to plead his case but ultimately fails to convince the collector to sell him the book.
Frustrated and dejected, Frasier begins to realize that his obsession with the book has become unhealthy. He seeks the advice of his friends and family, who all encourage him to let go of his desire for the book and move on with his life. In the end, Frasier decides to take their advice and lets go of his obsession with the book.
As with most episodes of Frasier, "Frasier Gotta Have It" is filled with witty banter and clever one-liners. The episode also features some standout performances from the cast, particularly Kelsey Grammer as Frasier and David Hyde Pierce as Niles. Overall, "Frasier Gotta Have It" is a fun and entertaining episode that showcases the show's trademark mix of humor, heart, and intellect.
