In season 2 episode 3, titled "Franklin the Spy / Franklin's Library Book," we find Franklin at the center of two exciting stories. The first story follows Franklin as he becomes a spy to save his best friend Bear's surprise party. When Franklin overhears Bear's aunt talking about the party, he decides to do everything he can to ensure that the surprise is not spoiled. He enlists the help of his other friends, Turtle and Rabbit, to come up with a plan to keep Bear out of the house long enough for them to set up for the party. In the end, the plan works to perfection, and Bear is thrilled with his surprise.
The second story involves Franklin going to the library to return a book that his mom had borrowed. However, when he arrives at the library, he discovers that he has accidentally picked up the wrong book. To make things worse, the book he has taken turns out to be one of the most popular books in the library, and it has a long waiting list of people waiting to read it. Franklin is determined to return the book and get the one his mom has borrowed, but he soon realizes that he may need some help to find it. He enlists the help of his friend Beaver, who happens to be a library expert. Beaver teaches Franklin how to use the library's catalog system to find the book he needs. Finally, Franklin is able to find the right book and return it to the library.
Throughout the episode, children are exposed to valuable lessons about friendship, problem-solving, and the importance of books and libraries.
