Forged in Fire season 9 episode 31, titled "Supersized: Hog Wild," features four elite bladesmiths from around the country who are challenged to create the ultimate weapon. The heat is on as they are tasked with crafting a massive, oversized version of a traditional pig hunting spear. This supersized challenge will test their skills and creativity as they must create a spear that is capable of taking down the largest wild boar.
In the first round, the bladesmiths must choose their materials wisely as they craft the spearheads. They must use their knowledge and experience to create a blade that is not only sharp but also durable enough to pierce through the tough hide of a wild boar. They will face time constraints and the pressure of competing against some of the best bladesmiths in the country.
After the first round, the bladesmiths will test their weapons on a variety of materials, including light chainmail, pig carcasses, and pork ribs to determine their piercing and slashing capabilities. They will then modify and refine their weapons before moving on to the final challenge.
For the final challenge, the remaining bladesmiths must create a complete pig hunting spear, including the pole and handle. They will have only a limited amount of time to construct their weapons, and they will need to showcase their creativity and ability to work under pressure.
The final round will conclude with a series of tests to determine the effectiveness of each blade. The bladesmiths will be judged on their sharpness, durability, and overall performance. The judges will also evaluate the aesthetic beauty of each blade and how well it reflects the unique vision of each bladesmith.
