In Forged in Fire season 7 episode 9, entitled "Military Tribute," the four remaining bladesmiths are tasked with creating some of the most iconic weapons used throughout history by military forces. They are given only three hours to forge a weapon fit for the battlefield, inspired by the legendary M3 Trench Knife.
The knife was designed during World War I and was used extensively by American soldiers in both World War I and World War II. With its distinct brass knuckles, the M3 Trench Knife was a formidable weapon used for close-range combat.
The bladesmiths must recreate the M3 Trench Knife while also incorporating their own style and creativity into the design. They must use the only material provided- high carbon steel- to create their blades.
After the three hours are up, the bladesmiths test their weapons' strength and durability by slicing through a series of military-inspired tests. They start by hacking through a suspended ballistic dummy, then move on to a kevlar vest, and end with an intense stress test where they must repeatedly stab a metal barrel to see how the blade stands up to the rigors of battle.
The bladesmith with the weakest weapon will be sent home, narrowing down the competition to the final three. These three then have five days to create an entirely new weapon inspired by a famous American military general.
The pressure is on as the bladesmiths work to impress the judges and honor the bravery of American soldiers through their incredible craftsmanship. In the end, only one bladesmith will emerge victorious and be awarded the title of Forged in Fire Champion.
This episode of Forged in Fire is a tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the American military. It honors their legacy and their dedication to protecting our country. The bladesmiths' commitment to creating weapons worthy of these heroes is a testament to their own skill and passion for their craft.
