Dr. Henry Morgan is a New York City medical examiner, but he has a secret: he's immortal. In the fifth episode of Forever's first season, titled "The Pugilist Break," Henry is investigating the death of a young man named Frank who appears to have fallen off a building. But when he discovers that Frank was a boxer, Henry realizes there may be more to the story.
As Henry delves deeper into the case, he meets Frank's trainer, who tells him that Frank was training for a big fight but suddenly quit. The trainer also mentions that Frank had a girlfriend, so Henry decides to track her down and talk to her. When he finds her, she's hesitant to talk to him at first, but eventually reveals that Frank was being blackmailed.
Meanwhile, Henry's assistant, Lucas, is dealing with his own problems. He's been blackmailed into stealing evidence from the morgue for a criminal organization, and he's struggling with the guilt of betraying Henry's trust. What Lucas doesn't know is that his actions are about to have serious consequences.
As Henry continues to investigate Frank's death, he meets a man who claims to have known him and offers to help with the case. But Henry soon realizes that this man may not be as trustworthy as he seems.
Throughout the episode, Henry is also dealing with his own personal issues. He's still struggling to come to terms with his immortality and the fact that he's lost everyone he's ever loved. He's also trying to navigate his complicated relationship with his best friend, Abe, who Henry has known for over 200 years.
As the episode comes to a close, Henry finally pieces together the clues and discovers the truth about Frank's death. But he's too late to save Lucas, who has become entangled in the criminal organization's web and is in grave danger.
Overall, "The Pugilist Break" is a thrilling and emotional episode of Forever that explores the complexities of Henry's immortal existence while also delivering a compelling mystery.
