Forever Knight is a 90s Canadian supernatural crime drama about an 800-year-old vampire named Nick Knight who works as a homicide detective in Toronto while trying to atone for his past sins. In season 2 episode 9, titled "Undue Process," Nick finds himself embroiled in a conspiracy that threatens not only his own life, but the lives of innocent people and the integrity of the justice system as well.

The episode begins with Nick investigating a series of murders that all seem to be connected to one man, a wealthy and powerful businessman named Phillippe Renard. Despite Nick's best efforts, he can't seem to find any hard evidence to tie Renard to the crimes, and the man plays dumb every time Nick tries to interrogate him. Nick even resorts to using his vampire abilities to read Renard's mind, but he still can't find anything incriminating.

Nick's frustration is compounded when he learns that his partner, detective Tracy Vetter, has been assigned to work with a hotshot federal agent named Reese in a joint task force to take down Renard. Nick is deeply skeptical of Reese, who he sees as too eager and ruthless in his pursuit of justice. He warns Tracy to be careful around the man, but she brushes off his concerns.

As the investigation progresses, Nick starts to suspect that Renard may have some kind of leverage over the justice system itself, which would explain why he's been able to evade punishment for his crimes. He begins to dig deeper into Renard's connections and discovers that the man has many influential friends in high places, including judges, lawyers, and politicians. Nick realizes that he's up against a powerful adversary who will stop at nothing to protect his interests.

Meanwhile, Tracy and Reese are making progress in their investigation as well. They manage to get a witness to testify against Renard, but before they can make an arrest, something strange happens. The witness suddenly changes his story and recants his testimony, saying that he made it all up. Tracy and Reese are stunned and frustrated, realizing that someone must've gotten to the witness and persuaded him to lie.

Nick is convinced that Renard is behind the witness's sudden change of heart, but he can't prove it. He decides to take matters into his own hands and confronts Renard directly, hoping to get him to slip up and confess to his crimes. What happens next sets off a chain of events that threatens to expose the conspiracy at the heart of the justice system and puts everyone involved in mortal danger.

"Undue Process" is a tense and suspenseful episode that showcases the show's strengths in blending supernatural elements with procedural crime drama. The central mystery is engaging and well-paced, and the episode's themes of power, corruption, and justice are explored with nuance and complexity. The performances by the cast are strong, with standout work by Geraint Wyn Davies as Nick, Catherine Disher as Tracy, and guest star Scott Wentworth as Renard. Overall, "Undue Process" is a satisfying episode that will keep viewers on the edge of their seat until the very end.
