In the season 1 finale of Forever Knight, titled "Dead Issue," we find Nick, the vampire detective, investigating a series of murders. The killer seems to be targeting reporters, leaving behind cryptic messages and newspaper clippings at the crime scenes. Nick soon realizes that the killer is actually a fellow vampire, who is angry at the media for exposing the vampire community and showcasing them as monsters.
Meanwhile, Nick's partner, Don Schanke, is dealing with his own personal woes as he struggles to come to terms with his divorcing wife's new relationship. He finds solace in spending time with a young boy named Kevin, who lives in his building with his mother and has an affinity for all things supernatural.
As Nick slowly unravels the mystery behind the murders, he realizes that the killer is becoming more and more erratic and dangerous. With the help of his friends and allies, he sets out to stop the vampire before more innocent people are hurt.
"Dead Issue" is a tense and thrilling episode that showcases the show's signature blend of mystery, drama, and supernatural elements. As always, Nick's struggle to balance his immortal nature with his humanity remains at the heart of the story, and we see him grappling with his own sense of justice and morality as he confronts the killer.
The episode also features some great character moments, particularly for Schanke, who is given the chance to shine outside of his usual role as the comic relief. We see him vulnerable and tender with Kevin, and it's a poignant reminder of how much he values the people in his life.
Overall, "Dead Issue" is a strong finale to an already impressive season of Forever Knight. It leaves us wanting more and sets the stage for even greater adventures to come.
