Ep 2. True Lies

In Forensic Files season 4 episode 2 titled "True Lies," viewers are taken on a journey into the world of forensic science as they witness the investigation of a murder case that involves lies, cover-ups, and multiple suspects. The episode begins with the discovery of a lifeless body in a car that has been deliberately set on fire in the middle of nowhere. The body has been burned beyond recognition, and the police have no clues as to the identity of the victim.

The only lead the investigators have is a license plate number of the car found at the scene. The detectives trace the plates to a woman named Brenda, who claims that her car was stolen a few days ago. However, after further questioning, the police find out that Brenda had lied about her car being stolen. She had actually driven the car to an abandoned area and set it on fire herself.

As the investigation progresses, it is discovered that Brenda's boyfriend, Gary, had asked her to use her car for an errand on the day the car was found burned. The police bring Gary in for questioning, and he tells them a story about how he had borrowed the car to pick up some lumber for a construction job he was doing. However, the police have reason to believe that Gary is lying.

The forensic investigators are called in to examine the burned car and the remains of the victim. They find a bullet hole in the victim's skull, which contradicts Gary's story that the victim was killed in the car accident that had caused the fire. The investigators also discover that the bullet came from a gun that Gary had owned and recently sold to a friend.

As the investigation progresses, the detectives uncover more lies and cover-ups. Gary's friend who had bought the gun, had sold it to someone else without keeping any records. However, the detectives are able to trace the gun through its serial number to the person who had bought it third-hand. This leads them to a man named Tony who was Gary's rival in a construction job.

The forensic evidence gathered from the burnt car and the victim's body confirms that Tony had killed the victim, who was his employee, out of jealousy and rivalry. Tony had set the car on fire to conceal evidence, but he had not realized that the fire would not destroy the forensic evidence.

The episode ends with Tony being charged and convicted for his crime, and Gary being cleared of all allegations. The episode showcases how forensic science can unravel the truth behind lies, cover-ups, and deceit. With the use of forensic evidence, the detectives were able to solve a complicated murder case that was shrouded in mystery and false leads.
