In season 1 episode 39 of Forensic Files titled “Frozen Evidence,” viewers are taken on a chilling journey into the investigation of a brutal murder case in the small town of Superior, Wisconsin. When a popular local bartender, Carol Fisher, is found dead in her apartment, the community is left reeling with shock and disbelief. As the police begin their investigation, they quickly realize that the case will be a difficult one to solve, as there is very little evidence to go on.

The detectives on the case are joined by a team of forensic experts, who bring their specialized knowledge and skills to the table. As they begin to comb through the evidence, they uncover a series of shocking clues that point to a possible suspect. The first piece of evidence is a bloody handprint found on the wall next to the victim's body.

The second piece of evidence is more elusive and mysterious. For weeks after the murder, the temperature in Superior stayed below freezing, which had the effect of slowing down the decomposition process of the victim’s body. In fact, the cold weather was so severe that the ground froze solid, preventing the body from being buried for several months. However, this also meant that some crucial evidence was frozen solid, and couldn’t be analyzed by the forensic team. When the body was finally exhumed, the team was able to extract a sample of frozen evidence that had been preserved in the victim’s hair. This sample contained a tiny amount of DNA, which would prove to be the key piece of evidence in the case.

With the help of sophisticated DNA analysis techniques, the forensic team was able to identify the source of the DNA sample as a young local man named Gary Lindsey. Lindsey was quickly arrested and charged with the murder of Carol Fisher. However, his defense team argued that the sample was contaminated, and that there was no way to conclusively prove that the DNA belonged to Lindsey.

The trial was tense and dramatic, with both the prosecution and the defense calling on expert witnesses to support their arguments. In the end, the jury found Lindsey guilty of the murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison.

Despite the chilling subject matter, “Frozen Evidence” is an engrossing and informative episode of Forensic Files. Viewers will be fascinated by the science behind forensic investigation, and will be gripped by the twists and turns of the murder case. In addition, the episode provides a fascinating look at the close-knit community of Superior, and how the murder impacted the town and its residents. Overall, “Frozen Evidence” is a must-watch for true crime fans and anyone interested in the science of forensic investigation.
