Erina is known as the "God Tongue" due to her incredibly refined sense of taste. She is considered to be one of the top students at Totsuki and has a reputation for being extremely picky when it comes to food. Soma, on the other hand, is confident in his ability to cook and believes that he can impress even the most demanding of palates.
The episode begins with Soma and his friend Megumi Tadokoro heading to Erina's classroom for their next cooking assignment. Soma heads to the school's greenhouse to gather ingredients for his dish while Erina observes him from afar. She is intrigued by Soma's confidence and begins to wonder if he might actually be able to impress her. Soma returns to the classroom and begins cooking, taking care to use ingredients and techniques that Erina has never encountered before.
As Soma cooks, Erina watches him closely, analyzing his every move. She is surprised by his unconventional methods and begins to question her own approach to cooking. When Soma finally presents his dish, Erina is stunned by the flavors and textures he's created. For the first time in her life, she is unable to find any fault with a dish.
The episode ends with Erina acknowledging Soma's talent and declaring him a legitimate rival. Soma is thrilled to have earned her respect and looks forward to the challenges that lie ahead. The audience is left eagerly anticipating what other culinary battles will take place at Totsuki Culinary Academy.
