Ep 4. New Age Flip

In season 8 of Flea Market Flip, we meet two teams of skilled pickers who are on a mission to transform old, discarded items into newfound treasures. In episode 4, titled "New Age Flip," host Lara Spencer introduces us to two teams of designers who are ready for a new challenge.

The first team, made up of best friends Terri and Janell, is hoping to take home the prize money and bragging rights. They start by scouring the flea market for unique pieces that will spark their imagination. They spot an old wooden desk that looks like it has seen better days, but with Terri’s woodworking skills and Janell’s eye for design, they think they can turn it into a showstopper.

Meanwhile, the other team, consisting of married couple Rachel and Ryan, are also on the hunt for design inspiration. They spot a vintage bike that they think will make a great statement piece, and decide to use it as the centerpiece of their design.

Both teams then head to their workspaces to start the transformation process. Terri and Janell quickly get to work on sanding and staining the desk. They decide to add a modern twist by repurposing an old metal mailbox into drawers for the desk. Janell also adds a unique touch by painting the legs of the desk in a bold shade of turquoise.

Rachel and Ryan decide to transform the bike into a chandelier by adding a series of hanging light fixtures to the frame. They also spot an old wooden ladder and get to work repurposing it as shelves for the chandelier to hang from. The couple finishes up their design by adding a coat of black spray paint to the bike, giving it an edgy, modern aesthetic.

As the teams put the finishing touches on their designs, Lara Spencer makes her way around to inspect their progress. She is impressed with both teams and thinks they have really pushed themselves creatively for this challenge. But she knows there can only be one winner, and it’s up to the judges to decide.

At the end of the challenge, the teams bring their completed designs to the judges, who inspect them closely. The judges are impressed with Terri and Janell’s modern take on the classic desk and love the mailbox drawers. They also think that Rachel and Ryan’s bike chandelier is incredibly inventive and a great use of the vintage piece. In the end, though, only one team can come out on top.
