In the season 7 episode 4 of Flea Market Flip entitled "Sky-High Flipping," two teams of keen flea market flippers are on the hunt for hidden treasures that they can revamp and sell for a profit. Hosted by Lara Spencer, each team is given a budget of $500, which they have to use wisely to purchase discarded items ranging from furniture to antique pieces.
In this episode, the teams head to the Brooklyn Flea Market where they scour through piles of discarded items looking for diamonds in the rough. The teams are then given a specific challenge- turn an outdated piece of furniture into a functional and stylish piece that can be placed in a small New York City apartment. The team that has the better creation is declared the winner and gets to keep all the profits.
The first team is made up of Erin and Tracy, two friends who are passionate about restoring old items. They are on the hunt for an item that they can easily repurpose and transform with a new coat of paint. After scanning through the market, they find an old steamer trunk that is in desperate need of a revamp. They haggle with the seller and manage to nab it for $225. Next, they head off to search for some other items like a floor lamp and a vintage radio that they can use to accessorize the trunk.
The second team is comprised of Steven and Angela, who were brought together by their mutual love for restoration projects. Unlike the first team, they are looking for individual items that they can use to put together a complete look. They come across an old wooden cabinet with an intricate design that they believe could be given a new look with a fresh coat of paint. They buy this item for $250 and set off to search for other items that they can use to complete the cabinet's transformation.
Both teams return to their workshops where they begin to work on their items. Erin and Tracy start by sanding and painting their trunk in a bright red color to make it pop. They then add the floor lamp, vintage radio, and other items to create a focal point in a small room.
Meanwhile, Steven and Angela start by designing stencils to add an intricate design to the cabinet's doors. Once they finish with this, they add fresh paint in a shade of light green that complements the cabinet's design. They then clean up the rest of the cabinet, sanding off any rough patches before accessorizing it with other items.
The judges survey both teams' creations and conclude that each team has done exceptional work. However, they choose Erin and Tracy as the winners for their creative transformation of the steamer trunk. The ladies then take home all the profits they made from their sales.
Overall, "Sky-High Flipping" is a thrilling episode that showcases the ingenuity and resourcefulness of flea market flippers. Both teams display their creativity and talents through their fabulous transformations. With joy and laughter woven throughout, viewers are sure to be entertained as they learn valuable insights into restoration and repurposing projects.
