In the season 7 premiere of Flea Market Flip, two teams face off in the ultimate design competition. The teams are made up of friends who have known each other since high school, and two rockers who are always up for a challenge.
The teams meet up at the flea market, where they are given a budget of $500 to spend on three separate projects. Their first challenge is to find a piece of furniture that they can transform into a unique and stylish seating option.
The besties decide to go for a vintage armchair that they plan to reupholster and add some funky details to. The rockers go for a battered old rocker, which they plan to sand down and repaint with a rock and roll theme.
After a quick break, the teams come back to the flea market to tackle the second challenge: to find a piece of art that they can incorporate into their designs. The besties opt for a collection of vintage record covers, which they plan to turn into a trendy wall mural. The rockers choose a set of vintage concert posters, which they plan to turn into a cool collage.
With their art pieces in tow, the teams head back to the workshop to start building their final challenge: a piece of furniture that can work as a coffee table and storage unit. The besties decide to go for a vintage trunk that they plan to sand down, paint and add some funky legs to. The rockers choose a battered old ammo crate, which they plan to turn into a cool industrial style coffee table.
As the teams work on their projects, they encounter some unexpected challenges. The besties struggle with some of the tricky details on their armchair, while the rockers have trouble drilling into their tough old ammo crate. But both teams manage to keep their cool and work out the issues.
After a long day of designing, the teams present their finished projects to the judges. The besties show off their chic armchair, complete with a funky fabric and added details like tassels and buttons. Their record cover mural adds extra personality to the space. The rockers' rocker looks incredibly cool and funky after they sand and paint it, adding some band logo decals for an extra edge. Their concert poster collage is a highlight of their space, and their industrial ammo crate coffee table is a unique and practical addition.
The judges deliberate and, after much discussion, award the flea market flip prize to the rockers. Their designs were especially creative and daring, and they really embraced the unique aesthetic of the flea market. But both teams showcased amazing creativity and talent, proving once again that anything is possible with a little imagination and a lot of hard work.
