Flipping From Drab To Fab is the third episode of the tenth season of Flea Market Flip. This hit HGTV series features contestants who compete to find and flip the most profitable items from flea markets and garage sales.
In this episode, four teams of two arrive at the Brimfield Antique Show in Massachusetts to search for items they can refurbish and resell for a profit. Each team is given a budget of $500 and one hour to shop.
First up are friends Jake and Karen, who are looking for items to transform into unique pieces for their event planning business. They stumble upon an old foldable Tiki bar and a set of mid-century modern chairs. They plan to give the Tiki bar a new coat of paint and turn the chairs into a bench.
Next, married couple Dan and Adrienne are on the hunt for items to decorate their new home. They think outside the box and purchase a large amount of scrap leather from a tannery. They also find a wooden spindle that will serve as a base for a DIY lamp.
Friends and upcyclers Christina and Jessica keep an open mind as they shop. They come across a rusty tricycle, a globe, and a large metal jug. Their plan is to turn the tricycle into a rolling bar cart, use the globe as a lampshade, and transform the metal jug into a chic table lamp.
Finally, sisters Christie and Caroline are looking for items to sell in their vintage shop. They find a unique metal plant stand and an old wooden door. They plan to use the plant stand as a statement piece in their store, and the door as a backdrop for their merchandise.
After the shopping portion of the competition, the teams head to the workshop to begin refurbishing their items. They have one day and a budget of $200 to complete their projects.
Jake and Karen start by dismantling and sanding down the Tiki bar. They paint it a bright blue and add a bamboo top. They also cut and reupholster the mid-century chairs to turn them into a bench. The final result impresses the judges with its fun, beachy vibe.
Dan and Adrienne get to work on their leather purchases, using them to create a unique headboard for their bed. They also make the DIY lamp using the wooden spindle and a quirky lampshade made from a colander. The judges love their creativity and think the leather headboard could be a big seller.
Christina and Jessica transform the tricycle into a rolling bar cart by adding wood shelves and a coat of paint. They use the globe as a pendant lamp and turn the metal jug into a futuristic table lamp. The judges commend their ability to turn rusty items into something trendy and modern.
Finally, Christie and Caroline upcycle the wooden door into a beautiful headboard by sanding it down and adding a coat of paint and stenciling. They also use the metal plant stand as a statement piece in their store and add plants to bring it to life. The judges appreciate the unique way they used their items to enhance their vintage store.
In the end, the judges have a tough decision to make, as all four teams did an incredible job with their projects. The winner is announced, and the winning team is thrilled to receive a $5,000 prize.
Flipping From Drab To Fab is an entertaining and inspiring episode of Flea Market Flip, showcasing the contestants' creativity and DIY skills. Whether you're a seasoned flea market shopper or a beginner, you're sure to enjoy this fun and engaging show.
