Five Bedrooms is an Australian drama TV series that follows the lives of five individuals who meet at a singles' table at a wedding and decide to buy a house together. Season 1 episode 5, named "Five Lies," delves into the group's personal lives as they struggle to keep their own secrets hidden and also face the consequences of their past decisions.

The episode starts with the characters waking up to find out that their house's bathroom has been vandalized with a derogatory message about lesbians. They are shocked and hurt, and they try to find out who is responsible for the graffiti. The incident is a microcosm of the bigotry and hatred that the group faces as they navigate relationships, careers, and their own personal demons.

As the episode progresses, we see each character dealing with their own set of lies. Ben, played by Roy Joseph, is trying to keep his marriage intact despite his affair with Heather, the married woman he hooked up with in the previous episode. His wife, Liz, played by Kat Stewart, is suspicious of his behavior, and Ben has to keep lying to her to avoid her knowing the truth. Meanwhile, Heather, played by Doris Younane, is dealing with her guilt and the fact that her husband, who she was planning to leave for Ben, has just been diagnosed with cancer.

Harry, played by Stephen Peacocke, is hiding his job status from his girlfriend, Ainsley, played by Katie Robertson. He's still cleaning boats for a living and thinks Ainsley wouldn't approve. Ainsley, on the other hand, is dealing with the guilt of not being there for her mother, who is going through a difficult phase in her life.

Meanwhile, Ange, played by Kate Jenkinson, is hiding her true feelings for Ben from the group, even though it's evident to everyone that she has a crush on him. When she helps him plan a surprise birthday party for Liz, her true feeling spill over.

Finally, we have the character of Tracey, played by Kumud Merani, who is faced with the biggest lie of all - her real identity. We learn that she is not Tracey at all; her real name is Belinda, and she has been living under an assumed identity to escape her past. She's afraid that her past will catch up with her and is contemplating coming clean to the group.

As the episode progresses, we see each character facing the consequences of their lies. Ben's affair is exposed, and he has to deal with the fallout of his actions. Heather's husband's cancer diagnosis puts things into perspective for her, and she realizes that she needs to make amends for her actions. Harry comes clean to Ainsley, and they work through their differences. Ange finally admits her true feelings for Ben, even though it might hurt Liz. And finally, Tracey decides to tell the group her true identity, and they are all there to support her.

In the end, the group learns that honesty is the best policy, and it's better to face the consequences of our actions than to live in a web of lies. The episode ends on a hopeful note, with the group coming together to help each other face their problems and move forward.
