Bea's Commercial / Hairanoid is the first episode of the third season of the animated television series Fish Hooks. The episode first aired on June 1, 2013, and was directed by Maxwell Atoms.
In the first half of the episode, Bea decides that she wants to create a commercial for her family's store, which sells fish tanks and aquarium supplies. She enlists the help of Milo and Oscar to shoot the commercial, but things quickly go awry. Milo accidentally knocks over a display, breaking several fish tanks and releasing all of the fish. Meanwhile, Oscar gets distracted by a video game and ignores his job.
Bea becomes increasingly frustrated with her friends' lack of focus and creativity, and she decides to take matters into her own hands. She creates a flashy, over-the-top commercial that features her singing and dancing in a mermaid costume. The commercial attracts a lot of attention, but Bea soon realizes that she has inadvertently alienated her friends. They feel left out and resentful for not being included in the creative process.
In the second half of the episode, Oscar develops an irrational fear of hair, which he dubs "Hairanoid." The phobia is triggered when he accidentally ingests a hairball, and he becomes convinced that he is going to be overwhelmed by hair. He avoids touching anything that might be contaminated with hair, including his friends.
Milo and Bea try to help Oscar overcome his fear, but their efforts only make things worse. Bea gives Oscar a haircut, which he perceives as a traumatic experience. Milo tries to demonstrate that hair is harmless by rubbing a handful of it on his face, but his actions only gross out Oscar even more.
Eventually, Oscar realizes that his phobia is irrational and that he needs to face his fears. He forces himself to touch a pile of hair and, to his surprise, nothing bad happens. He finally conquers his fear and rejoins his friends.
Overall, Bea's Commercial / Hairanoid is a lighthearted and humorous episode that explores some common phobias and interpersonal tensions. It showcases the characters' quirks and personalities in a fun and engaging way, and it reinforces the importance of friendship and teamwork.
