Fish is a half-hour comedy series that premiered on ABC in early 2021. The show centers around a dysfunctional family living in Los Angeles called the Fishers. At the heart of the family is widowed father Norm Fisher, who is trying his best to keep his offbeat family together after the death of his wife a few years prior. Norm works as a high school geometry teacher and prides himself on being an involved father, though his kids don't always make it easy on him.

Norm's oldest daughter is 16-year-old Paige, an activist and feminist who is constantly rebelling against her dad's rules. She's outraged by injustice and unafraid to speak her mind, even if it gets her into trouble. Middle child Sam is 13 years old and obsessed with video games, zombies, and drawing comic books. He's an easy-going prankster who marches to the beat of his own drum. The youngest of the trio is precocious 8-year-old Hannah, a mini-genius who is always spewing random facts and beating her older siblings at academic pursuits, much to their annoyance.

Rounding out the Fisher family is Grandpa Mel, Norm's retired father who lives in their pool house. Mel is always ready with an inappropriate comment or wild story from his youth. He keeps Norm on his toes with his antics, but also provides a shoulder to lean on when Norm needs fatherly advice. Next door to the Fishers lives perky Kimberly, who is Paige's best friend and harbors a not-so-secret crush on Sam.

Much of the comedy arises from the three Fisher kids getting into misadventures at home and school, driving their frantic father crazy in the process. Paige is constantly cooking up new schemes to advance her social causes, like distributing contraband vegetarian food on campus after the school cafeteria bans meat. Sam is frequently in the principal's office for pranks gone wrong, like the time his home-brewed energy drink caused a massive sugar rush in the student body. And little Hannah isn't as innocent as she seems, using her intelligence and cuteness to manipulate situations to her favor.

No matter what chaos the Fisher kids stir up, Norm is always there to instill some fatherly wisdom and keep his family on track. Mel and Kimberly also lend helping hands, giving advice to the kids in their own unique ways. In the end, the Fishers always come together as an odd, noisy, but loving family. Fish mixes zany family comedy with heartfelt moments, creating a show that celebrates the ups and downs of family life.
