Ep 3. Dancing Queens

Tully and Kate are back in their prime teenage years, which means they're off to the prom! The scene opens in 1983, where the girls are getting ready for the big night. Tully is dressed in a bright teal dress, while Kate has opted for a softer, lavender-colored gown. They exchange compliments and fix each other's hair, obviously excited for the festivities ahead.

Once they make their grand entrance, it's clear that Tully is the life of the party. She's dancing, socializing, and taking selfies with practically everyone in attendance. Kate, on the other hand, seems a bit more reserved. She's content to watch from the sidelines and take in the moment.

As the night goes on, Tully begins to tire from all the dancing. Kate suggests that they take a break and grab some punch, but Tully insists that the night is still young. She spots some cute boys across the room and pulls Kate along to join them.

Before long, Tully is swept up in a flirtatious dance with one of the boys. Kate watches from a distance, looking a bit uncomfortable. When Tully returns, she suggests that they head home. Tully is disappointed, but agrees to leave.

On the car ride home, the girls talk about their future plans. Tully mentions that someday she wants to be a famous talk show host, while Kate is content with the idea of being a wife and mother. Tully scoffs at this idea, claiming that Kate is selling herself short. Kate is hurt by Tully's dismissive attitude, but doesn't say anything.

Fast forward to the present day, and the tension between Tully and Kate is still palpable. Tully has been invited to give a speech at a women's conference, and she's asked Kate to come along as her guest. Kate is initially hesitant, but eventually agrees to go.

At the conference, Tully is in her element. She's mingling with the other guests, hobnobbing with the speakers, and generally enjoying herself. Kate, on the other hand, feels awkward and out of place. She doesn't know how to connect with these women who are so confident and successful.

As the day wears on, Tully becomes increasingly frustrated with Kate's behavior. She feels like Kate is holding her back from making connections and having a good time. Kate, on the other hand, feels like Tully is abandoning her and leaving her behind.

Eventually, Tully decides to ditch Kate and mingle on her own. Kate is hurt and upset, and decides to leave the conference early. As she's leaving, she overhears some of the other conference attendees gossiping about Tully. They're making fun of her outfit, her hair, and her personality.

Kate is shocked by this. She's always held Tully up on a pedestal, seeing her as confident and untouchable. Now, she realizes that Tully is just like everyone else - flawed and vulnerable.

The episode ends with Tully returning to their hotel room, looking disheveled and upset. Kate confronts her about what happened, but Tully brushes her off. The tension between them is higher than ever, and it's unclear how they'll be able to move past this latest challenge.
