Felicity season 1 episode 7, titled "Drawing the Line (1)," follows the college experience of Felicity Porter (Keri Russell) as she navigates her way through the ups and downs of her newfound independence. In this episode, Felicity is faced with a difficult decision when she discovers that her roommate, Meghan (Amanda Foreman), has been stealing her belongings. Meanwhile, Ben (Scott Speedman) and Julie (Amy Jo Johnson) struggle to define their relationship, leading to tension between Felicity and her crush, Ben.
The episode opens with Felicity returning to her dorm room to find that her belongings have been rummaged through and some of her prized possessions, including a letter from Ben, are missing. Suspecting her roommate Meghan, Felicity confronts her, but Meghan denies any wrongdoing. Over the next few days, Felicity continues to find more of her things missing, including her toothbrush and a treasured scarf her mother gave her.
Meanwhile, Ben and Julie are struggling to define their relationship after their kiss in the previous episode. Ben, unsure of how he feels, takes Julie to a party where they both end up getting drunk. When Ben brings Julie back to her room, they begin to kiss again, but Julie stops him, telling him she doesn't want to be just a hookup. This leads to tension between Ben and Felicity, who is still pining for him.
As the tension between Felicity and Meghan escalates, Felicity seeks advice from her resident advisor, Noel (Scott Foley). Noel suggests that Felicity set a trap for Meghan to catch her in the act of stealing. Felicity agrees and sets up a hidden camera in their room. When Meghan is caught on camera stealing Felicity's scarf, Felicity confronts her and they have a heated argument.
The episode ends with the unresolved tension between Felicity and Ben, as well as Felicity's uncertain future with Meghan as her roommate. "Drawing the Line (1)" sets up the plot for the next episode, which follows Felicity's decision to move out of her dorm room and the consequences that follow.
