Feast of the Gods is a South Korean drama series that aired from February to May of 2012 on MBC America. The series is set in the world of Korean traditional cuisine and follows two rival chefs and their families as they compete to run the best restaurant in the country. The series stars Sung Yu Ri, Joo Sang Wook, and Lee Sang Woo in the lead roles.

Sung Yu Ri plays Go Joon Young, a highly skilled chef who has been trained in the art of traditional Korean cuisine since childhood. She runs the kitchen at her family's restaurant while also caring for her elderly grandmother. Joo Sang Wook plays Choi Jae Ha, her rival and childhood friend, who also comes from a family of chefs. Choi Jae Ha is arrogant and competitive, but he has a secret past that Joon Young is unaware of.

As the two chefs battle it out to see who can make the best dishes, they also navigate their personal lives and uncover their families' secrets. Joon Young is engaged to her childhood friend, world-renowned chef Kim Do Yoon (played by Jun Noh Min), who is haunted by his past mistakes. However, her feelings for Choi Jae Ha become more complicated as she learns more about his past and they spend more time together.

Meanwhile, Choi Jae Ha's family is struggling to run their restaurant, and his father is desperate for him to defeat Joon Young and take over her family's establishment. Choi Jae Ha's sister, Choi Joon Hee (played by Seo Hyun Jin), is secretly in love with Kim Do Yoon and helps him with his cooking, but she also has a complicated relationship with her brother.

The series also features many other characters, including other chefs, food critics, and regular customers, all of whom play a role in the drama. The show's focus on Korean cuisine gives it a unique flavor, and each episode features beautifully shot scenes of cooking and food preparation. The series also touches on themes such as love, betrayal, and family dynamics.

One of the strengths of Feast of the Gods is its ensemble cast, who all deliver strong performances. Sung Yu Ri shines as Go Joon Young, who is determined to prove herself as a chef and find happiness in her personal life. Joo Sang Wook's portrayal of Choi Jae Ha is both charming and infuriating, and his character arc is one of the highlights of the series. Jun Noh Min brings depth to the character of Kim Do Yoon, who struggles with regrets from his past. Seo Hyun Jin also delivers a standout performance as Choi Joon Hee, who is caught between her love for Kim Do Yoon and her loyalty to her family.

The series is well-paced, with plenty of drama and intrigue to keep viewers engaged throughout its 32 episode run. The show's attention to detail when it comes to the food is also impressive, and it's clear that a lot of research went into the production. The series is a great choice for foodies, and viewers who love Korean dramas will also find a lot to enjoy in Feast of the Gods.

In conclusion, Feast of the Gods is a captivating Korean drama series that is sure to leave viewers hungry for more. With its strong ensemble cast, attention to detail, and emphasis on traditional Korean cuisine, the show is a standout in the world of K-dramas. South Korean television has produced numerous shows focusing on traditional Korean cuisine, but Feast of the Gods stands out as one of the best.
