In season 1 episode 7, titled "The Devil's Dust," Father Brown is called upon to solve a mysterious murder in the village of Kembleford. The victim, a wealthy factory owner named Wilfred Nugent, is found dead in his office, with a bullet wound to the head.
Initially, the police believe that the murder may have been the result of a robbery gone wrong, as Nugent's safe has been emptied. However, Father Brown suspects that there is more to the case than meets the eye.
As Father Brown interviews the suspects, he uncovers a tangled web of secret relationships and hidden motives. Could the killer be Nugent's son-in-law, who was recently fired from his job at the factory? Or perhaps it was one of the workers, who were protesting at the factory just before the murder?
As Father Brown delves deeper into the case, he discovers that the key to solving the mystery may lie in the dusty old attic of Nugent's mansion. But with the killer still on the loose, can Father Brown uncover the truth before it's too late?
