In season 2 of Fast N' Loud, the Gas Monkey Garage crew is back at it again, taking on new challenges and crazy builds. In episode 1, titled "Mashing Up Mustang," the guys take on one of their biggest challenges yet: transforming a 1967 Mustang into a rally car.
The episode starts off with Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman searching for their latest project car, and they settle on a '67 Mustang. The car is in decent condition, but it's a far cry from what they need to build a rally car. They want to turn it into a car that can tackle any terrain and podium at rally races.
The first step in the build is to completely strip the car down and assess what they're working with. They discover that the car has rust issues, and Richard gives Aaron the task of cutting out and replacing any rusty metal. Aaron takes on the challenge like a pro, using his welding skills to make the car structurally sound.
Once the rust is taken care of, it's time to start throwing on some upgrades. First up is the suspension, and the team adds some beefier shocks and springs to handle the rough terrain. They also install a roll cage for safety and stability.
Next, it's time to address the car's engine. The Mustang currently has a tired 289 engine, which won't cut it for rally racing. To remedy this, the team sources a 347 stroker from a local engine builder. The new engine is outfitted with a Holley sniper EFI and Edelbrock intake manifold, making it much more powerful than the old motor.
With the engine installed, it's time to turn their attention to the car's exterior. They want to give it a rally-inspired look, so they add some beefy fender flares and a custom front bumper. They also give the car a fresh coat of paint, with a bold scheme featuring a mix of red, white, and black.
As the build progresses, the team encounters some challenges. They discover that the Mustang's transmission is shot, and they'll need to rebuild it. Aaron takes on the task, but it's no easy feat. He spends hours taking apart the transmission, cleaning it, and replacing worn parts.
Along the way, the guys also encounter some unexpected setbacks, like a botched paint job and missing parts. But they push through and eventually complete the build.
The final product is a stunning rally car that looks like it was born to tackle any terrain. The Gas Monkey Garage team takes the Mustang out for a test drive, and it performs flawlessly. The car is quick, stable, and has plenty of power to spare.
The episode ends with Richard and Aaron reflecting on the build and the challenges they faced. They're proud of what they've accomplished, and they can't wait to see the car in action on the race track.
Overall, "Mashing Up Mustang" is a thrilling episode of Fast N' Loud that showcases the Gas Monkey Garage team at their best. The build is complex and challenging, but the crew rises to the occasion and delivers a truly impressive car.
