Fast Layne is an action and adventure television series aimed at kids and young adults. The show tells the story of Layne Reed (Sophie Pollono), a 12-year-old girl who loves tinkering with cars and dreaming of becoming a racing driver. One day, Layne and her mother, Valerie (Natalie Sharp), move to a new town called Eagle Rock, where Layne meets her new neighbor, Cody (Brandon Rossel), and his mysterious car, a talking electric sports car called Vin (voice by Jorge Diaz). Layne and Cody soon discover that Vin has a mind of his own, can drive himself, and is always ready to take on any challenge. Together, they embark on a series of thrilling adventures filled with car chases, heists, and secret missions, while trying to solve the mystery of Vin's origin and purpose.
In episode 1 of season 1, entitled "Mile 1: The Voice in the Shed," Layne is excited to start a new school year and show off her latest invention, a remote-controlled car that can jump and flip on command. However, her plans are quickly derailed when she discovers a hidden shed in her backyard that contains a strange object covered with a tarp. Curiosity gets the best of her, and she decides to investigate. Inside the shed, Layne finds an old and rusty sports car that seemingly hasn't been touched in years. Layne makes a deal with her mother to restore the car as long as she can keep it.
Before Layne can start her project, she runs into Cody, who's also intrigued by the car. Layne tries to brush him off, but Cody won't take no for an answer and insists on assisting her. As they begin to work on the car, they realize that it has some unusual modifications, including a sophisticated computer system, voice-activated commands, and an encrypted navigation system. They also discover that the car can talk and has a personality of its own. The car introduces itself as Vin and claims to be a robotic racing car, built by a mysterious inventor named Zora to compete in a notorious underground racing circuit.
But as Layne and Cody dig deeper into Vin's capabilities and secrets, they attract the attention of some unsavory characters, including a gang of street racers who want Vin for themselves and a shadowy organization that's tracking Vin's every move. When a group of masked intruders break into Layne's house to steal Vin, the kids go on a wild chase across town, using Vin's advanced technology and speed to evade the criminals and protect their new friend.
As the episode comes to an end, Layne realizes that her life will never be the same again and that Vin holds the key to unlocking her dreams and talents. Vin, Cody, and Layne take off into the sunrise in their newly restored car, ready for their next adventure.
