Farzar is an adult animated sci-fi comedy series that premiered on Netflix in 2022. The show centers around a human named Renzo and his crew of aliens who live on the distant planet Farzar. Renzo was kidnapped from Earth as a child and raised by aliens, believing himself to be one of them. Now an adult, Renzo serves as a low-level soldier in the imperial guard on Farzar alongside his best friend Barry, a dark matter zombie. The imperial guard serves the royal family, led by Emperor Zalphar and his spoiled son Prince Filon.

The first season follows Renzo and Barry's misadventures as they try and fail repeatedly to move up the ranks in the imperial guard. Renzo dreams of being promoted to join the elite Lazer Team fighting force, while Barry just wants access to more brains to eat. But they are held back by their own incompetence, as well as bullying and manipulation by Prince Filon.

Other key characters include Smorz, the sassy cleaning robot who acts as the gang's voice of reason; Val, Renzo's love interest who works as a scientist; and Druul, the intimidating four-armed general who bosses around Renzo and the other guards. Prince Filon's right-hand henchman is a silent, terrified alien named Keith.

The show combines futuristic sci-fi elements with workplace comedy, as the imperial guard engage in typical office humor and politics despite the extraterrestrial setting. Frequent pop culture references and crude, irreverent humor round out the show's style.

While mainly episodic in nature, an overarching storyline involves Emperor Zalphar secretly plotting to have his son Filon killed so that his more competent daughter Azma can take the throne instead. Prince Filon remains oblivious to his father's scheming.

Farzar balances its ridiculous characters and settings with amusing commentary on everyday scenarios like dealing with unreasonable bosses and trying to gain respect from those in power. The show maintains a playful, relaxed vibe even when exploring heavier themes like capitalism, environmental destruction, and social mobility.
