As the crew of Moya travels through space, they unexpectedly encounter a time portal that transports them to an alternate universe. This universe is vastly different from their own, where John Crichton is a peacekeeper and has never met his crewmates. As they try to navigate this new reality, they discover that their alternate selves have a dangerous mission they need help with.
In this universe, the crew of the Moya is known as a rogue group of space outlaws, wanted for various crimes against the peacekeepers. Their alternate selves are in possession of a powerful device that they plan to use to destroy a particular planet. John, always the mediator, is determined to use diplomacy to stop this tragedy from happening. But his crewmates and alternate self see it as a necessary evil to ensure the survival of the peacekeeper regime.
As John navigates the politics of this alternate universe, he begins to see the darker side of his alternate self and the peacekeeper regime. Meanwhile, his crewmates must decide whether to stay in this universe and help their alternate selves or try to find their way back to their own reality.
"Different Destinations" is a thrilling episode that explores the choices we make and the consequences that come with them. As the crew of Moya tries to navigate this alternate universe, they are forced to confront their own beliefs and biases. It's a reminder that even in different realities, the human experience remains the same.
