John and the crew of Moya are still adjusting to the recent addition of Noranti to their team when they suddenly find themselves in the middle of a crisis. The ship becomes trapped inside a massive gravity well, and despite all their efforts, they cannot seem to free themselves. To complicate matters further, a group of aliens called the Halosians board Moya and enslave the crew, forcing them to perform menial tasks and experiments.
As tensions run high, the crew starts to turn on each other and old wounds are reopened. D'Argo begins to blame himself for every misfortune that befalls the crew, while Chiana becomes increasingly reckless in her attempts to escape their captors. Even Aeryn, usually the voice of reason, is struggling to keep her emotions in check.
Meanwhile, John is plagued by haunting visions of his life before Moya, and cannot seem to shake them off. He becomes increasingly convinced that someone from his past is trying to reach him through these visions, and that there may be a way to use them to escape the gravity well.
As the crew frantically searches for a way out, tensions boil over and alliances are tested. With danger around every corner, trust is at a premium and any misstep could prove fatal.
