Aeryn denies ever knowing John, claiming that they never had any sort of relationship, but John can't shake the feeling that she's lying.
Meanwhile, another former member of the Command Carrier's crew, Gilina Renaez, appears on board Moya, looking for John to help her with a project. Gilina quickly becomes enamored with John, causing tension between him and Aeryn. As the crew attempts to help Gilina with her project, John's suspicions about Aeryn only grow. He becomes increasingly desperate to prove that they did, in fact, have a relationship, even going so far as to use a dangerous neural chip to unlock his memories.
As John continues to dig into his past, he discovers the truth about his relationship with Aeryn and the events that led to the beginning of his journey through the universe.
