They also want to preserve as many original features of the home as possible, including the original wide plank pine floors and the exposed brick chimney in the main living area.

The renovation begins with a complete demo of the interior of the home. Aaron and his team carefully remove all of the old plaster and lath, revealing the original post and beam structure of the home. They also discover that there is no insulation in the walls, and that the home has been poorly weatherized over the years. The team new insulation is the first major project. They brining in a custom millwork crew to build built-ins and they also have a local artisan help bring history back by repurposing those big old barn boards as wainscoting on the walls in a few rooms.

From here, the team tackles project after project to transform the aged space into a modern home. Included in the new renovation, two brand new honeycomb fireplaces to keep the house warm in the winter. This project is not without challenges, and the team often faces unexpected setbacks along the way. At one point, they discover that the foundation of the home is unstable, and they must stop work for several weeks in order to address the problem.

Throughout it all, Aaron and his team work tirelessly to make the Fitzpatrick family's vision a reality. The end result is an absolutely stunning and completely updated farmhouse, with plenty of character and charm to spare. The family is thrilled with the results, and the home is truly a work of art - a perfect reflection of the creative and talented family who will call it home.

Overall, "Sight Unseen" is an excellent start to season two of Farmhouse Fixer. The episode offers a glimpse into the challenges and rewards of renovating an old property, as well as the importance of preserving history and character in a home.
