Ep 18. A Tale of Two Cities (2)

In Family Ties season 5 episode 18, titled "A Tale of Two Cities (2)," the Keaton family continues their trip to Paris. Alex is still struggling with his feelings for Ellen, who he recently found out has a boyfriend back home. Meanwhile, Mallory is enjoying a blossoming romance with a French boy named Jean-Luc, but worries about their cultural differences and whether they can make a long-distance relationship work.

As the family explores the city, they run into several mishaps and miscommunications due to language barriers and different customs. Steven and Elyse have trouble navigating the Paris metro, while Jennifer gets upset when a street vendor insists she pay for a bracelet she didn't want. Skippy also shows up unexpectedly, causing some tension between him and Mallory.

As tensions mount, Alex suggests they all go to a café and try to connect with the locals. They meet a Parisian family who invites them to a dinner party, where they enjoy good food and lively conversation. Steve realizes he and Elyse have been too focused on their own problems and need to let go and enjoy their vacation, while Alex learns to accept that sometimes things don't work out the way he wants them to.
