When You Wish Upon a Weinstein is the 22nd episode of the third season of the animated television series, Family Guy. The episode originally aired on November 9, 2003, and is considered to be a controversial episode due to its comedic treatment of religion.
In this episode, the Griffin family discovers that they have financial troubles, so Peter decides to find a way to make more money. He sees a billboard advertising a Jewish accountant and decides to hire him in hopes of improving his financial situation. The Jewish accountant suggests that Peter convert to Judaism, so he can have financial success like other Jews. Peter agrees and starts the conversion process.
Meanwhile, Lois discovers Peter's plan and becomes outraged by it. She tries to convince him to change his mind, but he remains stubborn and convinced that converting to Judaism is the only way to solve their financial problems. Lois then enlists the help of her father, Carter Pewterschmidt, to try and stop Peter's conversion, but he can't seem to convince Peter that he's making a mistake.
As Peter completes the conversion process, he realizes that he's made a mistake and wants to go back to his old life. However, he soon discovers that he can't go back because the only way to reverse a conversion is to complete the conversion to another religion, which is something that Peter doesn't want to do.
Throughout the episode, there are many satirical moments and controversial jokes that poke fun at Jewish stereotypes. The episode also features a musical number called "I Need a Jew", which is sung by Peter and his friends as they celebrate their newfound financial success.
At the end of the episode, Peter realizes the error of his ways and comes to terms with his decision. Despite the controversy that surrounded the episode, it remains one of the most popular episodes of Family Guy to date and is considered to be a fan favorite.
