The episode titled "Christmas is Coming" is the ninth episode of the eighteenth season of the hit animated television show Family Guy. The episode centers around the Griffins as they prepare to celebrate Christmas and all the madness that comes with it.

The episode starts off with Lois , the matriarch of the Griffin family, going on a Christmas-themed shopping spree. Meanwhile, her husband Peter, the bumbling, dim-witted patriarch of the family, is tasked with decorating the house for the upcoming holiday. As usual, Peter’s idea of decorating involves tacky and tasteless decorations that border on the offensive. It's his intention to put up a giant flamingo in the yard with a Santa hat, but the neighbors are none too pleased with the eyesore.

As the holiday season intensifies, the show takes on some of the classic Christmas traditions that we're all familiar with, but with a hilarious Griffin family twist. For example, a new neighbor has moved in next door and Peter has, in a desperate attempt to outdo them, started a full-on Christmas light war – with tragic results. As always, there are some recurring gags, like the epic battles between Peter and the giant chicken. In a fun twist, Peter inadvertently takes on the role of host for the annual Quahog Christmas talent show, leading to performances that will have audiences laughing out loud.

Throughout the episode, the rest of the Griffin family also has their own subplots and jokes happening. Middle child Chris tries to impress everyone by playing Santa at the mall but ends up getting a little too into character. Meg, the misunderstood teenage daughter of the family, tries to find the perfect present for her crush, while youngest son Stewie attempts to learn the true meaning of Christmas but is far too cynical even for that to work out.

One of the funniest bits of the episode is when Lois decides to transform herself into the ultimate Christmas mom, complete with matching holiday sweaters and a gingerbread house contest to determine who among her friends is the most skilled in the kitchen. Things quickly spiral out of control as getting the perfect Christmas card photo becomes obsessive. In true Family Guy fashion, the show takes a satirical look at the stresses and strains of modern Christmas.

As the episode continues, the Christmas chaos gets even more hectic. The Griffin family goes on a search to find the perfect tree. Peter tries to set up the attic to store all the presents, leading to some hilarious physical comedy. Meanwhile, Brian, the family’s anthropomorphic dog, is tasked with finding the perfect toy for his girlfriend’s new baby. This plotline leads to one of the funniest cutaway gags of the episode, blending Brian's misadventures with a terrifying, dark joke about a certain children's toy.

Overall, the "Christmas is Coming" episode of Family Guy is a hilarious take on the holiday traditions that are loved so well by people, all wrapped up in the series' signature irreverent humor. Fans of the show will enjoy the familiar character dynamics and jokes they've come to love, while newcomers to the series will appreciate the humor and the farce that unfolds during the episode. With a solid mix of heart, humor, and absurdity, it’s a holiday episode that features all the chaos and shenanigans that fans of the show have come to expect.
