In season 18 episode 12 of Family Guy, titled "Undergrounded," Peter and his friends decide to start their own version of the Red Bull Flugtag event after watching it on TV. The event challenges participants to build homemade flying machines and launch them off a high platform, with the goal of seeing how far they can fly before crashing into the water below.
As the guys work on building their machine, they realize that they need to come up with a creative way to generate enough lift to stay in the air. They decide to use a massive underground fan to create an artificial updraft that will carry them aloft. However, things quickly go awry when they accidentally cause a city-wide blackout by drawing too much power from the electrical grid.
Meanwhile, Brian becomes obsessed with watching a TV series about a beautiful young woman who runs a small-town farm. When he finds out that the show is filmed nearby, he decides to take a trip to try and meet the star. After arriving at the farm, he quickly realizes that the woman isn't anything like the character she plays on the show, and that she has a fraught relationship with her gloomy husband.
Back on the main plotline, Peter and his friends enlist the help of Quagmire's electrical engineer friend to try and fix the damage they caused to the power grid. After several failed attempts to restore power, they finally come up with a plan to generate enough electricity to kickstart the grid by using the underground fan to power a crude turbine.
In the end, the guys successfully launch their flying machine and manage to avoid crashing by landing safely in the water. However, they quickly learn that their efforts have drawn the ire of the city government, who charges them with a variety of crimes related to the blackout. As they prepare to face their day in court, they make a joint decision to take responsibility for their actions and face the consequences head-on.
Overall, "Undergrounded" is a typical Family Guy episode that features a zany plotline, plenty of pop culture references, and some humorous jabs at modern society. While it's not the best episode of the season, it's still worth a watch for fans of the show who are looking for a good laugh.
