Peter Problems is the ninth episode of the twelfth season of the acclaimed animated TV sitcom, Family Guy. In this episode, we see Peter struggling with a mid-life crisis when he realizes that he is no longer the young man that he used to be. He becomes obsessed with feeling young and trying to recapture his lost youth.
Peter decides that the only way to feel young again is to act like a teenager. He starts hanging out with a group of high school students and even starts dressing like them. His newfound friendship with the teenagers leads him to do things that he never imagined he would, including skipping work and getting into trouble with the police.
Meanwhile, Lois is worried about Peter’s behavior and enlists the help of Doctor Hartman to help her husband. But when Doctor Hartman prescribes Peter with medication to help relieve his stress, it only leads to more problems. Peter becomes addicted to the pills and starts taking them at all hours of the day and night. He becomes reckless and even puts his family in danger.
In the meantime, Quagmire, Cleveland, and Joe start a music group, but not before realizing that Peter has stolen their name. They try to come up with a new name for their group, but all their attempts are unsuccessful. Eventually, they decide to confront Peter and take him to court for stealing their name.
As the episode progresses, Peter’s mid-life crisis only gets worse. He even considers getting a tattoo and a motorcycle to feel more youthful. But all his attempts to feel young again only leave him feeling empty and unfulfilled. It’s only when Peter realizes that he needs to be happy with who he is, regardless of his age, that he finally finds peace.
As always, Family Guy manages to tackle some serious issues while still making us laugh. Peter Problems is a hilarious and relatable episode that takes a funny look at the very real fear of growing older. With its witty humor, clever references, and thought-provoking messages, it’s no wonder that Family Guy continues to be one of the most popular animated sitcoms on TV.
