In season 1, episode 4 of Family Affair, titled "Mrs. Beasley Disappears," the Davis family faces a crisis when Buffy's favorite doll, Mrs. Beasley, goes missing.
Despite the fact that Mrs. Beasley is worn and tattered, Buffy loves her dearly and carries her everywhere. When Mrs. Beasley disappears, Buffy is inconsolable, and the whole family rallies to find her. Uncle Bill, Cissy, and Jody search the apartment, but all they can find are clues - a missing button from Mrs. Beasley's dress, a strand of thread, and a small piece of stuffing.
The family decides to split up to search for Mrs. Beasley. Uncle Bill visits the toy store where Mrs. Beasley was purchased, but the store no longer carries the doll. Meanwhile, Jody and Cissy scour the streets, asking anyone who might have seen Mrs. Beasley.
Back at the apartment, Buffy is beside herself with worry over the fate of Mrs. Beasley. The rest of the family tries to find a replacement doll for Buffy, but nothing can replace her beloved Mrs. Beasley.
After hours of searching, the family is no closer to finding Mrs. Beasley. Just when all hope seems lost, Uncle Bill has an idea. He calls the cleaners, the only place where Mrs. Beasley could have ended up, given the clues they had found.
The cleaners confirm that they have Mrs. Beasley and Uncle Bill rushes to pick her up. Buffy is overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved doll and the whole family breathes a sigh of relief.
In the end, the Davis family learns that sometimes the things we love the most can disappear, but they can also be found again. Buffy learns the value of responsible ownership and the family comes together to support each other through a stressful situation.
