Ep 2. The Source

Blair, Natalie, and Tootie gear up for their first day of work at Langley Junior Achievement Center, a radio station that caters to young people. They hope to land permanent gigs at the station after completing a three-month internship program. Meanwhile, Jo struggles to find a job after being laid off from a construction site.

At the radio station, Blair lands the job of co-hosting a morning show with fellow intern Greg. However, she quickly learns that her misogynistic partner expects her to be nothing more than a pretty face. Blair refuses to tolerate his behavior and fights back, proving that she is not just a pretty face.

Tootie, on the other hand, is disappointed when she's assigned to work as a record librarian instead of hosting her own show. But when her boss discovers her talent for writing and producing radio dramas, she gets the opportunity to create her own segment on the station.

Natalie struggles to put together an informative news program, but her boss isn't impressed with her preliminary work. Frustrated and unsure of what to do, she turns to Jo for advice. Jo helps her find a new source of inspiration and the two work together to produce a news segment that impresses their boss.

Meanwhile, Jo finally lands a job as a waitress at a local diner. Though it's not the construction job she had hoped for, Jo is grateful for the work and throws herself into her new role. However, she quickly realizes that the diner is not exactly a welcoming environment for women. When she confronts her boss about the sexist behavior of some male patrons, he brushes her off, leaving Jo to decide whether to stay or quit.

As the episode progresses, the four friends grapple with the challenges of their new jobs and face discrimination and sexism in different forms. Through their experiences, the show tackles issues of workplace inequity and the struggles that women and people of color face in the workforce. Ultimately, the friends learn to support each other and push back against those who seek to belittle them.
